An Awesomeness Involving Typewriters

This is another teaser.  Yesterday I was interviewed, photographed, and video'd by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel as part of an article on the resurgence of typewriters.  I am told the final article will be out in a couple of weeks.  Stay tuned for a complete report!

  1. Exciting! I look forward to the story. That is a great poster behind the typewriters, too.

    1. It was a blast! I mentioned you and your collection, Richard. And included your various Typospherian-related URLs in a handout I gave her. I don't know if that will make it in to her story, but I wanted her to know there was a wide world out there when it comes to these machines! (Also told her about NaNoWriMo and the Typewriter Brigade!)

The poster is a plywood billboard that I created for the Summer Solstice Type-In I did last summer over in Madison (WI). Professor Remington is my Type-In persona. Gives me a chance to break out my academic garb in a fun cause. ;-)

  3. Very exciting! Your army of typewriters is quite attractive all laid out on the table like that too (:

  4. Ton . . . Ted - thanks! I am pretty psyched too. It was a very fun afternoon and evening. Fun, too, seeing all my typers in rows like that! (I kept saying to the reporter that I didn't think I was a collector until I saw them all out on the table. I usually keep only one or two out for use and the rest squirreled away out of sight.)

  6. Few things thrill my heart as much as to see a spread of a few dozen portable typewriters.
One of the things that does, is trying them all!

    1. You know it, Nick! Usually I keep my machines stashed in their cases under my drawing table in my workroom/home office. But for now I am going to keep them in the dining room. Will type a little on each one before re-stashing 'em!
